Memories from the Past
June 2023 Studio Piano Recital
On Sunday, June 18, 2023, we joyfully celebrated all our fathers with a Fathers' Day Recital. Students performed skillfully and artistically on an exquisite Petrov piano in the Mercer Music Hall at Northwest Pianos in Bellevue. At the conclusion of each performance the student was given a red, long-stemmed rose to present to their father on this special day. We even had three fathers performing, one of whom performed his own composition!
Edmonds Musicianship Festival 2023
The Edmonds Musicianship Festival was held on Saturday, May 6th, at the Edgewood Baptist Church in Edmonds. Our participating students entered video performances of their solos. On the day of this fun ribbon festival they entered projects of their own creation and took five different musicianship skills tests in person: technique, rhythm, sightreading, ear training, and music theory. In return they were awarded myriad colorful ribbons from the Edmonds Music Teachers Association as well as certificates from the Washington State Music Teachers Association.
On March 12th students gathered at Kathy Wolf Piano Studio dressed in green for a fun-filled musical piano party! Each student performed a piece of their choice, then we a had a game of musical chairs accompanied by Irish music. Prizes and treats helped make it a merry celebration for all!
2022 Holiday Sing-Along
Students and their families joined together for good, old-fashioned Christmas caroling! Students accompanied while everyone burst forth in joyous song!
2022 Halloween Piano Party
Our annual Halloween Piano Party featured students performing spooky music and Bach Preludes in costume. Prizes, treats, and lots of Halloween fun was had by all!
June 2022 Studio Piano Recital
On Sunday, June 12th, we celebrated the achievements and the beautiful music of our student performers, who played on a magnificent 7'9" Petrof grand piano in the Mercer Music Hall at Northwest Pianos in Bellevue. This was our first formal recital since before the pandemic and was the glorious culmination of our students' study and practicing over the past academic year and beyond. Bravo to all our students for their fine performances!

Studio Recitals June 8 and 17, 2018
Our June recitals offered students of Kathy Wolf Piano Studio an opportunity to perform in a more formal setting in the Mercer Music Hall at Northwest Pianos and to share their beautiful music with their relatives, friends, and fellow students. Performers practiced hard and knew their pieces well. They were encouraged to put their hearts and souls into their playing and to enjoy being centered in their music and creating an ambience with the audience. While most students performed in just one of the two recitals, more advanced students were given the chance to perform in both. The grande finale for both recitals was the premier performance of Dance of the Dragon by Peter F. Wolf. A reception followed each recital.
EMTA Musicianship Festival
Saturday, May 19, 2018
Springtime meant it was time for our EMTA Musicianship Festival! This is a favorite of our piano students, and our theme this year was The Fabulous Fifties!
This festival provides students an opportunity to participate in the Washington State Music Teachers Association Music Literacy Program. It is fun, educational, and students bring home handfuls of ribbons they have proudly won by their accomplishments in any of multiple events: performances, special projects, rhythms, technique, sight-reading, ear training, music theory, and composition. Students participate at their own level, from primer level to advanced. This festival provides a great opportunity to set, work towards, and meet goals for musical learning and performance. Participants are later awarded certificates from WSMTA for their achievements.
As Captain of the Performance Judges, I was very busy for several weeks preparing for this event. Our student participants did an excellent job on their performances and their musicianship skills. They had fun and collected lots of colorful ribbons!
The Musicianship Festival doubles as a fundraiser for student scholarships. Proceeds from registration fees go to the Joan Brown Scholarship Fund. In May students of Kathy Wolf Piano Studio who are high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors were eligible to compete along with others for scholarships from EMTA.
All students of Kathy Wolf Piano Studio can look forward to participating in this fun and educational ribbon festival again each spring!

Andrew & Aviel!
Our heartiest congratulations to 11-year-old twins Andrew and Aviel Wood, who have been accepted for study with Professor Dainius Vaičekonis, concert pianist and Director of Keyboard Studies at Seattle Pacific University.
Andrew and Aviel flourished under their tutelage at Kathy Wolf Piano Studio. They started out as beginners, and in less than two years they acquired the exceptional musical foundation that led to their being accepted for advanced studies with Professor Vaičekonis. How were they able to accomplish this progress in such a short time? Through their talent, their passion for music, their supportive family, the quality instruction they received, and their consistent dedication to many hours of practice!
We wish Andrew and Aviel the very best of success as they continue their advancement as pianists. It is our hope and dream that they will become an outstanding duo-piano team. We expect to hear great things of them, and we would like to enjoy their beautiful performances as they grow and mature into fine musicians. They each performed two Bach Two-Part Inventions at Crossroads in Bellevue on March 24th as part of "Bach in the Subways." May they be an inspiration to all our piano students!
