Meet Kathy WolfKathy Wolf has a passion for bringing the joy of music to every piano student, no matter their age, level, or current capabilities. Musical Education |
Kathy's love of music was sparked by her extraordinary piano teacher, Susan Lennon, who had a profound way of bringing music to life. This inspired Kathy to begin her teaching career even prior to her college days, giving lessons to friends and neighborhood children in Bellevue, Washington. She went on to the University of Puget Sound, where she became a Music Major in Piano Performance under Professor Ronald Booth and greatly increased her musical knowledge. Here she also met her future husband, composer Peter F. Wolf. Further study with Dr. Robert Cowan at the University of Montevallo, Alabama, enhanced her performance techniques.

Piano Teaching History |
Kathy has taught piano privately in many parts of the country, following her husband's career moves as he taught music in various colleges. She has left in her wake many fine piano students in Washington, Alabama, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Delaware. Some of her students have distinguished themselves by winning music scholarships and becoming professional musicians, while numerous others have simply enjoyed enriching their lives with music. Kathy's dream was always to come back to live and teach in her beloved Pacific Northwest. Here she cherishes the beauty of nature and the eagerness and creativity of her students. Besides forming her own piano studio in Kirkland, Kathy taught at the former Mills Music in Bothell and Foothills Music Academy in Woodinville.

Pianist & Accompanist |
Kathy has had numerous performances both as a soloist and in ensembles. Some of her favorite concerts have been ones in which she has played duets or duo-piano pieces with her twin sister, Roz Nau. She has also very much enjoyed her career as an accompanist, which began by accompanying choirs and soloists in school and later led to accompanying college faculty recitals. For 12 years her musical life was enriched by being a liturgical accompanist for cantors at St. Jude Catholic Church in Redmond, Washington.

It also provides her students with many opportunities to participate in local, state, and national festivals, recitals, competitions, workshops, and conferences.

Comments to Kathy Wolf from Visiting Artist Dr. Roon-Hwa Roh at the 2025 EMTA Music Artistry Program:
It was such a pleasure to hear your wonderful, talented students! They were all in various levels but all of them played with passion and understanding of phrasing and shaping! I'm also very, very impressed with their sensitivity to tone colors and listening for phrase directions. You teach them so well and they develop musical ears from very early on. So happy to see young ones already giving their own musical interpretations and preferences on phrasing and shaping. I really love how they can hear the subtle differences in harmonic progression -- tone color changes. Thank you for letting me listen and work with your students. It has been a great joy! |
