Policies
1. It is the responsibility of students, with the support and help of their parents, to practice consistently (preferably daily, but at least five (5) days a week) and to show up on time for their scheduled piano lessons. If you have missed some or all of your practice sessions during the week, remember that it is even more important to attend your scheduled lesson to review the material and get a fresh jumpstart! If you miss your lesson, it will be considered a forfeited lesson.
2. No refunds, credit, or makeup lessons will be offered for missed lessons except under the conditions and limitations indicated in Policies #3 and #4. You are making a commitment to come to your scheduled piano lessons on time. If you are feeling only slightly ill but still want to take your piano lesson, you may make arrangements at least two (2) hours in advance to take your scheduled lesson remotely via FaceTime or Zoom.
3. If you notify me at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance that it is impossible for you to come to your lesson, you may schedule a makeup lesson that is within two (2) weeks of the regularly scheduled lesson, as long as a mutually acceptable time is available. Otherwise, your lesson will be forfeited. Once scheduled, a makeup lesson may not be rescheduled.
4. Do not come to piano lessons when you are sick. If you have had a cough, sore throat, sniffles, runny nose, fever, vomiting, aching, or any other symptom of an illness within the previous twenty-four (24) hours, please stay home. If you feel well enough to take your piano lesson remotely, please make such arrangements at least two (2) hours in advance of your scheduled lesson. If this is not possible, your lesson will be forfeited, but hopefully your recovery will be quick. Resume practicing as soon as you are able, so your next lesson will be fantastic! If you suddenly fall ill on the day of your lesson (and not on prior days) and are too sick to do a remote lesson, we might explore the possibility of a makeup lesson within two weeks, but there is no guarantee of time availability.
5. Ms. Kathy might occasionally need to cancel or reschedule a lesson. If unable to provide a makeup lesson within two weeks, you will be given credit for the missed lesson.
6. To help prevent the spread of contagious diseases, anyone coming into my home piano studio can make it a habit to wash hands or use hand sanitizer immediately upon entering, especially before playing the piano. The piano keyboard is disinfected as needed, and students may additionally use hand sanitizers at any time.
7. Families are expected to support the piano student's practice, progress, and participation in musical activities.
8. At the student and teacher's discretion, family members/friends may be allowed to sit in on lessons. Their presence must be conducive to a positive learning atmosphere.
9. Studio music events cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances will not be rescheduled.
10. Kathy Wolf belongs to the Edmonds Chapter (EMTA) of the Washington State Music Teachers Association (WSMTA), as well as the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Student participation in MTA events is encouraged.
