Starting/Discontinuing Lessons:
You may start or stop your lessons at any time during the school year, but you must make the full monthly tuition payment for any month in which you receive one or more piano lessons. Tuition Covers: Weekly lessons (except during scheduled breaks) and any extra ensemble rehearsal time required for performance events. This totals 34 reserved lessons plus any ensemble rehearsals for each student who completes the entire 2024-2025 school year session. Activity Fee: Every student is required to pay a $25 Activity Fee at their first lesson of the school year to help defray the costs of Studio activities that are supplementary to their regular lessons, such as Studio Piano Parties and Recitals. This fee partially covers the cost of Studio events only and is not refundable. [Any fees for participation in Music Teacher Association events are to be paid separately, usually to the MTA.] Free Introductory Lesson: Your first, introductory lesson at Kathy Wolf Piano Studio is free, giving you a chance to try out our studio before obligating yourself to regular lessons. |
Policies
1. It is the responsibility of students, with the support and help of their parents, to practice consistently (preferably daily, but at least five [5] days a week) and to show up on time for their scheduled piano lessons. If you have missed some or all of your practice sessions during the week, remember that it is even more important to attend your scheduled lesson to review the material and get a fresh jumpstart! If you miss your lesson, it will be considered a forfeited lesson.
2. No refunds, credit, or makeup lessons will be offered for missed lessons. You are making a commitment to come each week to your scheduled piano lessons on time. Notice given well in advance of highly unusual circumstances, such as being out of the country for a month, might entitle a student to special consideration.
3. Do not come to piano lessons when you are sick. If you have had a cough, sore throat, sniffles, runny nose, fever, vomiting, aching, or any other symptom of an illness within the previous 24 hours, please stay home. If you feel well enough to take your piano lesson remotely, please make such arrangements at least two (2) hours in advance of your scheduled lesson. If this is not possible, your lesson will be forfeited, but hopefully your recovery will be quick. Resume practicing as soon as you are able, so your next lesson will be fantastic!
4. Ms. Kathy might occasionally need to cancel or reschedule a lesson. If unable to provide a makeup lesson within two weeks, you will be given credit for the missed lesson.
5. To help prevent the spread of contagious diseases, anyone coming into my home piano studio can make it a habit to wash hands or use hand sanitizer immediately upon entering, especially before playing the piano. The piano keyboard is disinfected as needed, and students may additionally use hand sanitizers at any time.
6. Families are expected to support the piano student's practice, progress, and participation in musical activities.
7. At the student and teacher's discretion, family members/friends may be allowed to sit in on lessons. Their presence must be conducive to a positive learning atmosphere.
8. Studio performance events cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances will not be rescheduled.
9. Kathy Wolf belongs to the Edmonds Chapter (EMTA) of the Washington State Music Teachers Association (WSMTA), as well as the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Student participation in MTA events is encouraged.
